The Iconic studio tour

A tour around the new online store headquarters, the iconic.
Cow hide rugs, inspiration boards, tiny pots of plants randomly placed everywhere, stacks of old suitcases, pieces of framed art - just a couple of details that caught my wandering eye while the lovely ladies showed me around.

Little tricks

acne sweater / shorts from sportsgirl / zu shoes

I have a little equation that I always go by for the shorts and sweater (SNS) comboboy on top (eg. boxy shaped) and girl on the bottom (lace, crochet etc.). It keeps the balance of the look just right and is perfect in this transeasonal weather. I've paired it with these leopard print wedges that I've been gifted with as part of a blogger collaboration project with zu. The leopard lace-ups are my favourite! I've got a couple more from their summer collection which I'll be showing you how to style in upcoming posts. I'll keep you posted.

A beautiful mess

When it comes to sunglass and spec frames, tortoise shell comes naturally as my number one choice. It resembles a disheveled leopard print―the blotches are less structured and alot more messy.. typically how I like most things. So when the guys over at AM Eyewear sent this pair over to me from their new collection I was stoked. They're a wayfarer shape with a boxy half framed top and are extremely sturdy. My circle and cateye frames are already welcoming the new addition―Kaz, in old school tortoise shell.

Captured with watercolour

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
I've decided to digitally mash-up two of my favourite art forms; polaroid photography and watercolour. Here's a start with me in my bikini, pearl beach from the rocks and my ray bans. The pieces that live in my book shall stay, but I'm officially adapting to art online.

Exploring barefoot after a morning swim.

Three days up the coast flew by so quick!

Packed light

Up the coast for this weekend and we've done nothing except hang around the beach all day long. Fishing (him), reading (me), a relaxing massage and infra-red sauna treatment filled todays agenda and now we're off to find something for dinner. I've managed to pack light and only brought the essentialsa couple of shorts, tops, dresses, bikinis, cameras (I always seem to double everything) cosmetics, sunnies and a good book. All stuffed in my new bright straw mary and marie beach tote, which seriously makes life much more organised with all its perfectly thought out compartments inside.

Unwanted magnets

sass and bide top / forever 21 skirt / ysl ring / comme des garcons reptile wallet

Really into flippy skirts in this heat, preferably the mini version and one with structure. Only problem is the gusts of wind through laneways that embarrasses me a little, other than that, stocking up in different prints and plains is imminent for summer. Took this one my parents brought back from san francisco for a spin at rozelle markets with this top reminiscent of an ancient mummy even though halloween is long gone.

Came across a place in Balmain where the couple had written unwanted magnets on their driveway roller-door and people had contributed on the silver entrance. An unexpected work of art.

Not leaving my side

One thing I can't shake off my left shouldermy embroided pom pom tote from thailand. Two options to choose from isn't a bad idea. It's the big sister to this, the perfect size for a tote and brightens the mood to any outfit.

Second skin

Contemplating on purchasing these snakeskin ankle boots and putting them through their paces to replicate the aged look just like the above. I seemed to have missed out on the pair from zara but topshop have a pair in my size that are possibly waiting for me. Hmmm...

Easy on the left

asos kimono / tee dress by nathan smith / sandals by hussy / ysl ring / bag from thailand

I had to think twice about ordering this kimono online, but now I don't know why I even botheredI'm in love. The relaxed fit, drape, slightly shorter arm length and of course the embroidery tick all the right boxes. I could dress up every summer outfit with it. This nearly nude tee dress, which I've always worn as a t-shirt was first in line.. and I do prefer the original idea.

My parents just got back from their trip around Thailand, Europe and America and they brought back plenty of gifts including this bag (and another in pink!) that I've always had my eyes on. The pom-poms and braided handles keep the details throughout it a lot more interesting... Embroidery on embroidery, I think I'm a little obsessed.

Spook

Photobucket
polaroids from halloween / nicole's birthday

There were a couple of appearances on Saturday night. I spotted a few favourites including spock, jason from freddy vs. jason, 2pac, sista mary clarence (skulling a mix of alcohol from a tube), hugh hefner and his playboy bunny, black swan (except I failed at the eye make-up so substituted it for wings instead) and cleopatra. It's a shame I didn't get the birthday girl, she was little red riding hood and after a couple of drinks she was dancing around like a drunk jellyfish.

Happy halloween!
